Festival Films

Call for applications

The Saint John Contemporary Dance Festival is an annual festival that features professional and emerging choreographers.  All events take place in Saint John, New Brunswick. The festival’s programming seeks to offer a variety of artistic performances highlighting contemporary dance in Canada. 

 

Festival Films is a recent addition to the SJCDF created to complement the site-specific component of the festival. Films will be shown on a continuous loop over 3 days at the Saint John Arts Centre. Admission to the Arts Centre is through donation. 

 

CDW is looking to program short (5 - 15 minutes) dance or movement-based films. Dance artists from all forms and styles are encouraged to apply. We welcome and strongly encourage people from all communities and intersecting identities to apply. 

 

Eligibility:

  • One (1) submission per artist 

  • Films must be between 5-15 minutes in length to be considered

  • Films created after 2020 will be given priority in selection

  • Original content made explicitly for film/video

  • Artists must own copyrights to music, sound score, spoken or written text of video

  • Content that promotes intolerance or hatred will NOT be considered

Fees:

Artists whose films are selected will receive a contract an honorarium, which will be paid on the first day of the screening. 

To Apply:

1. Complete the application through google forms

2. Include photos/stills from the film for promotion if selected, and a link to the video

3. Submission Deadline is May 31, 2022

4. All final films must be available as .mov, .mp4, or .wmv formats.
